Privacy policy
Worth a Know Analytics is the private tool behind the Worth a Know YouTube channel. Only the channel owner uses it. This policy says what the tool reads from Google, what it keeps, who sees it and how to remove its access. It also covers this website.
What the tool reads
Worth a Know Analytics uses YouTube API Services. After the owner signs in with Google and agrees, it reads:
- the channel's ID, to check it has the right channel;
- details of the channel's videos, such as titles, publish dates, visibility and view counts;
- YouTube Analytics and Reporting numbers for the channel, such as views, watch time, traffic sources and thumbnail click rate.
For this it asks Google for two read-only permissions: one to view the YouTube account and one to view its YouTube Analytics reports. It also asks YouTube to prepare two daily channel reports, which it then downloads.
The owner may also give the tool a separate Google permission to edit YouTube content. With it, the tool reads recent comments and drops the commenters' names. It can also change a video's title, description, tags, thumbnail or captions after the owner signs off on that change. Google's editing permission also allows video uploads, deletes and comment replies. The tool has no code for those.
What the tool keeps
The tool keeps its Google sign-in tokens in files on the owner's computer that only the owner's account can open. The tokens stay out of any code repository. The tool sends them only to Google's sign-in and YouTube servers.
On the same computer, the tool keeps:
- channel and video numbers, with the date of each read;
- a record of each approved edit;
- with the editing permission, the text of up to 20 recent comments per video, without commenters' names, and short notes on common viewer questions.
How the data is used and shared
The owner uses these records to see which videos work and to plan new ones. The owner may review them with AI assistants, which read the records on the owner's behalf. These are OpenAI's Codex and ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini.
Worth a Know does not sell this data, use it for ads or share it with anyone else. Neither the tool nor this website shows ads.
Worth a Know Analytics' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Removing access and deleting data
The owner can remove the tool's access at any time on Google's security settings page: security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. The tool then stops reading new data. The owner can delete the stored records from the owner's computer at any time.
The tool keeps YouTube data only while its Google access lasts, and it confirms that access at least once every 30 days. If that access is removed, or someone asks for their data to be deleted, we delete the stored YouTube data within 7 days.
YouTube and Google terms
By using Worth a Know Analytics, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. The Google Privacy Policy explains how Google handles your data.
